2008 projects

Reminiscences Project

The society carried out this project, which is now nearing completion, for Clones Erne East Partnership, a cross-border development organisation made up of local councillors from both sides of the border.

The project, which is based on the Department of Irish Folklore's 1937 Schools Folklore Scheme, involved local primary schoolchildren collecting stories on a number of topics from older family members and neighbours.

Restoration of Triumphal Arch Gatelodge at Colebrooke Park

The Society has made several visits to the gatelodge, which is currently being restored by the Landmark Trust and will be used as holiday accomodation when the work is complete. To view photographs of our visits and other society events, click here.

Caroline Crowley, project development officer with the Trust, has written a short article on the building - click here if you would like to download it (.pdf format, 1.1MB). Members of the Society are invited to visit again in November 2008 to view the work in a finished state - please contact the Clogher Historical Society office for booking.

Caroline is collecting memories of the building before it fell into disrepair. If you have any stories, photographs or other material you would like to share, she would be delighted to have them.
