The author has produced a  revised and updated version of this acclaimed book, first published in 1985. New photographs, extra tales about Necarne Castle and  Castle Archdale, social history of the 19th century, education and schools, the railway,  churches, historical sites near the town, Irvinestown Workhouse, industry in the area,  reminiscences of the 1900s and 1950s, the “Troubles”, committees and sports clubs, and new appendices including  Irish derivations of the townlands around Irvinestown, nursery rhymes and skipping songs collected in the area, and  extracts from Royal Irish Constabulary  confidential police diary (1893-1925), and inscriptions from the Tower graveyard.
