	Access to Archives This site allows you to search for information in English archives (local record offices, libraries, universities, museums). Useful for Irish estates where landlords were resident in England.
	Bibliotheque Nationale de France This site has an introductory page in English and searchable online catalogue.
	Centre for Migration Studies The Centre for Migration Studies, Omagh, Co. Tyrone houses a Library and the Irish Emigration Database. The centre offers a Masters degree in Irish Migration Studies.
	Centre Historique des Archives Nationales (de France) This site has an introductory page in English and searchable online catalogue.
	European Library The European Library site allows you to browse and search the records and digital resources of the National Libraries of Europe from one location.
	Irish & Local Studies Library, Armagh Best local reference library for research on the southern border area. Books on the local history of the region, the Troubles, government reports, periodicals and microfilmed newspapers.
	Irish Architectural Archive Site includes biographical index.
	Leitrim County Library Site includes searchable library catalogue in English or Irish, searchable local studies database, searchable index to Leitrim newspapers (1822-1905). Also read newspapers and Encyclopedia Britannica online - the latter require entry of library card no. which can be obtained by joining the library.
	Library of Congress Search the library's catalogue, also many digital collections including historic newspapers, prints and photographs and veterans history.
	Marsh's Library Founded in 1701, Marsh's Library was the first public library in Ireland and celebrated its 300th anniversary in 2001. The library contains over 25,000 books relating to the 16th, 17th and 18th centuries, covering medicine, law, science, travel, navigation, mathematics, music, surveying and classical literature. 	Monaghan County Library Good collection of local history reference books, copies of Tithe Applotment Books, Griffith's Valuation for the county, Northern Standard newspaper and archival material including estate and local government records.
	National Archives of Ireland Government records and reports, birth, marriage and death records, school registers (list of registers given), genealogical manuscripts, some estate records for County Monaghan. The 1911 census is now available and free to search.
	National Folklore Collections (UCD) Manuscript and oral collections relating to folklore including the Schools Folklore Collection of material collected in national schools in 1937-8.
	National Library of Ireland Amongst many other treasures, the library holds estate records for some Monaghan estates: Leslie of Glaslough, Crofton, Dawson of Dartrey, Bath of Farney, Murray-Ker of Newbliss, Mayne and Smith Estates. Includes searchable online catalogues and the NLI Sources database.
	Northern Ireland Libraries Catalogue Searchable online catalogue of books held by the libraries in Northern Ireland.
	Public Record Office of Northern Ireland Extensive collection of archival material on the 6 counties of Northern Ireland. Holds significant collection of estate records for County Monaghan and gives online histories of local families. Searchable databases: eCatalogue, Ulster Covenant, Freeholders, Index to the Calendar of Wills, street directories and surnames.
	Royal Dublin Society Library Mainly for use of RDS members. Access to researchers by letter of application.
	Royal Irish Academy Major collection of early Irish manuscripts including the Annals of Ulster, Four Masters, Books of Ballymote, Lecan etc. Online catalogue.
	Royal Society of Antiquaries of Ireland The Society's library contains a good collection of books focussed on Irish history and archaeology. As a result of the Society's programme of Journal exchange, the library has an excellent collection of both local Irish and international journals.
	Scottish Archive Network This online catalogue is a means to access the holdings of 52 archives in Scotland.
	Trinity College Library Copyright Library since 1801. Excellent collections of Irish manuscripts, ordnance survey maps and early printed books.
	UCD Archive and Library Excellent archival collection relating to the development of the modern Irish state, includes the papers of Ernest Blythe, George Gavan Duffy, Kilmore Dispensary District (Monaghan).
	UK National Archives The National Archives of England, Wales and the United Kingdom has one of the largest archival collections in the world. The site includes an online catalogue.
	Western Education and Library Board Gateway to local authority libraries in the Council areas of Omagh, Fermanagh (including Enniskillen Library), Derry, Strabane and Limavady.
